Vieux Fort Area:
Vieux Fort Area is at the southern tip of St Lucia where the west coast Caribbean Sea meets the east coast Atlantic Ocean.
You can swim in warm turquoise water, sheltered by the reef, relax on honey coloured sand, be cooled by Atlantic trade winds in Lobster Pot Bay and Anse De Sable Beach. Refresh at local beach cafes and the Reef Bar and windsurf centre. You can arrange visits via the National Trust to Maria Islands Nature Reserve, where two endangered endemic species are found, the extremely rare Kouwes or racer snake and zandoli te, the whiptail lizard with a bright blue tail. Mankote Mangrove swamp has a hide for bird watching. Inspiration for gardeners is to be found at Mamiku Botanical Gardens, along the Vieux Fort Highway.
Vieux Fort has shops, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars and entertainment venues. JQ and Julians supermarkets stay open until quite late in the evenings and open on Sunday mornings. There is a fish market open Monday to Saturday. The main street, Clarke Street, has a thriving street market on Saturday where you can buy locally grown fruit and vegetables fresh from the ground or tree that morning. Monday to Saturday Clarke Street has a variety of stores including small individually owned clothes stores.
Vieux Fort is St Lucia’s second town and is convenient for travel being the location for Hewanorra International Airport and is a port of entry for yachts. Vieux Fort’s location at the southern tip of the Island provides the perfect position to explore both the Caribbean Coast and Atlantic Coast.

he southern area of the tropical Caribbean island of St Lucia is beautiful. There is much to see and do with something for everyone. You can experience a wide range of activities and explore the many exciting natural, cultural and historical attractions.
You can wonder at the natural beauty of green vistas of mountains covered in rainforest, see stunning coastline, waterfalls and wildlife in its natural habitat. There are rainforest walks led by well-informed guides, coastal hikes and botanical gardens.
